That takes the worst possible hand from twenty-six points to forty-three, and it means the queen is no longer the only spade anyone is frightened of — holding the ace or king stops being safe and starts being a problem you have to solve.

Taking the jack of diamonds subtracts ten from your score for the hand. Everything else is unchanged: hearts are one each, the queen of spades is thirteen, and every other diamond is still worth nothing. A player shooting the moon needs all thirteen hearts and the queen but does NOT need the jack. Standard Hearts gives you only penalties to avoid; one card worth chasing changes what a trick is for.
