Sign in to add a houseruleA player who is offered a double may accept and immediately redouble to twice that value, keeping the cube on their own side instead of passing it over. The original doubler then accepts or drops as normal. Accepting a double ordinarily hands the cube across and the accepter must wait for their own turn to use it, so a beaver is what a double offered too cheaply costs.

If both players throw the same number to open, re-roll as normal and turn the doubling cube to 2, leaving it in the middle so neither player owns it. Agree before you start that this happens at most once per game. A tied opener is otherwise a dead roll that costs a few seconds and changes nothing.

A gammon or backgammon counts as a single point unless a double was offered at some point during the game. Standard scoring pays double for a gammon and triple for a backgammon whatever the cube shows, which rewards sitting on a won position and grinding out the extra point instead of doubling. Use it in a session scored game by game, not in a match played to a fixed number of points.
