Victory tokens are worth double their printed value — 2, 6 and 10 instead of 1, 3 and 5 — while defeat tokens still cost 1 each. Military becomes a strategy somebody can actually commit to rather than a tax you pay your neighbours.

Deal each player two wonder boards and let them choose one, returning the other to the box. Adds a small opening decision and reduces the luck of the wonder deal.
For a teaching game, players may discuss the hands they are passing. Turns the first game into a shared puzzle instead of a silent one.
